Container 20’HC Open Side, 220 070-4
Are you looking for a durable, spacious, and at the same time maximally practical storage container that offers convenient access to stored goods while still looking like new? We present to you a 20-foot High Cube container in the Open Side specification, stored in our depot in Milan, Italy. This unit boasts like-new IICL6 quality after a single trip, a tasteful light grey shade RAL 7035, and above all a side wall that can be fully opened. Container transport is not included in the price; self-pickup from the Milan depot is required.
Dimensions of the 20′ High Cube container, load capacity and volume
High Cube (HC) is the designation for a container with increased height. While a standard 20-foot container reaches an external height of 2,591 mm (8 feet 6 inches), the HC variant increases it to 2,896 mm (9 feet 6 inches). This difference of approximately 30 centimeters brings noticeably more interior space and expands the possibilities of use.
Detailed parameters of the 20′ High Cube container:
- External dimensions (length × width × height): 6,058 × 2,438 × 2,896 mm
- Internal dimensions (length × width × height): approximately 5,898 × 2,352 × 2,695 mm (exact values may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and specific unit)
- Internal volume: approx. 37.4 m³
- Tare weight: approximately 2,300–2,500 kg
- Maximum gross weight: up to 30,480 kg
- Payload: up to 28,000 kg (depending on the exact tare of the specific container)
For comparison – the volume of 37.4 m³ corresponds roughly to the space of an average garage. You can easily store a complete set of garden furniture, extensive workshop equipment, several cubic meters of building materials, seasonal sports equipment, or even a small passenger car. Thanks to the side opening, you don’t have to leave any handling aisles inside, and you can use literally every centimeter of space. Dimensions are approximate and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
Open Side specification – side opening for maximum convenience
The Open Side container, i.e. with a side opening, differs from a classic storage container in the construction of one of the longitudinal walls. This is not made of a solid steel sheet, but is fitted with several door leaves that can be opened to the sides and secured in the open position. The result is full access to the entire interior space along a length of almost six meters.
This solution eliminates the main disadvantage of standard containers – the need to load and unload all material through narrow front doors. With Open Side you get:
- The ability to load palletized goods with a forklift directly from the side
- Easy storage of bulky items that would not fit through the front doors
- Immediate overview of the entire contents without having to enter inside
- Effective interior ventilation and reduced risk of moisture condensation
The frame construction remains fully preserved – strength, stability, and resistance to weather conditions are completely comparable to a standard container. The opening mechanism is robust, and the hinges and locks are designed for intensive daily use.
Like-new IICL6 quality after a single trip – perfect condition
The IICL6 designation is based on international standards for the evaluation of shipping containers (Institute of International Container Lessors). It is a category encompassing units that are fully qualified and certified for maritime transport.
The container has completed only a single sea voyage with cargo – usually from Asia to Europe. Unlike standard used containers, which have years of hard service at sea and on land behind them, a one-trip container is at first glance practically indistinguishable from a factory-new unit. What can you specifically expect?
- Frame and structure – without any deformations, cracks, or signs of material fatigue. The geometry of the container is perfect, all corners and edges are straight.
- Floor – the plywood floor with anti-slip treatment is essentially without signs of use. You will not find any scratches, stains, or damaged areas.
- Walls and roof – the corrugated sheets are straight, without dents. Any micro-abrasions from the single transport are purely cosmetic and do not affect functionality or service life.
- Doors, hinges and sealing – everything works with the ease of a new container. The sealing is flexible, undamaged, and provides perfect protection against rain, dust, and pests.
- Corrosion – thanks to minimal contact with salt water and moisture, the occurrence of rust on this container is practically excluded. The surface is clean, without foci of corrosion.
The like-new IICL6 container after a single trip represents the ideal compromise between price and quality. You get an essentially new container with minimal signs of use for a price significantly lower than what you would pay for a factory-new unit. For customers who require a representative appearance, long service life, and trouble-free functionality, this quality class is the best choice.
Color RAL 7035 – light grey with a universal character
The container is finished with an industrial paint in the shade RAL 7035, which carries the designation light grey. This gentle, neutral shade of grey looks very clean, modern, and professional. Unlike dark colors, it optically enlarges the space and does not attract as much sunlight, which you will appreciate especially in the summer months when the interior of the container does not overheat as much.
Advantages of the RAL 7035 shade:
- Versatility – light grey fits literally anywhere. It blends into industrial areas, construction sites, logistics centers, but also onto private plots next to family houses, where it does not look disruptive and easily integrates into the surrounding development.
- Practicality – although the light shade is more prone to visible contamination, thanks to it you will immediately spot any dirt and can remove it in time. The container thus naturally motivates you to keep things tidy.
- Paint durability – the paint is applied using industrial technology with high adhesion and resistance to UV radiation, moisture, and mechanical damage. The paint thus retains its original appearance for many years.
Uses of the Open Side container – practical ideas and inspiration
The container with a side opening is extremely versatile. In addition to classic storage, it offers a number of other uses:
- Workshop and facilities for craftsmen – the open side wall allows easy access to tools and materials. Longer items, such as pipes, battens, or profiles, can be conveniently pulled out to the side.
- Storage of palletized goods – the forklift drives directly to the open side wall and places the pallet without unnecessary manipulation.
- Sales stand or service window – the open side wall can serve as a counter for selling goods, refreshments, or as a service point.
- Facilities for garden equipment – lawn mowers, brush cutters, wheels, and other equipment can be easily pulled out to the side without having to walk around the entire container.
- Seasonal storage – in winter you can store garden furniture and a grill, in summer on the contrary winter equipment. Side access allows quick exchange of seasonal items.
Pickup from the depot in Milan, Italy
The container is physically stored in a depot in Milan, Italy. Transport to the destination is not included in the price and you must arrange it independently. For transport, we recommend contacting a local carrier who has experience handling containers and has the appropriate equipment – ideally a vehicle with a hydraulic arm or a container chassis. It is also necessary to arrange independently for the unloading of the container at the destination, or its placement on a prepared foundation. After completing the transaction, we will send you the complete documents needed for pickup. These documents only need to be handed over to the carrier of your choice, who will arrive at the depot based on them and pick up the container.
Illustrative photographs on the website are intended only for orientation. We store a large number of containers of the same specification and color in the depot. The shade may differ between individual units due to paint aging or a different production batch of paint. We will gladly verify the specific color tone of the currently available unit upon request. When purchasing, you will receive a container in the IICL6 category after a single trip, size 20′ HC, and Open Side specification; however, it may not be the identical unit as shown in the illustrative photos. For safety and operational reasons, the depot is not accessible to the public. A personal inspection of the container before purchase is therefore not possible.

The combination of an almost new condition, practical side opening, and tasteful light grey color RAL 7035 makes it a universal solution for transport, storage, a workshop, a garage, as well as seasonal storage.
