A small shipping container with a length of 6 meters, designated as 20 feet, is an ideal solution for those looking for a compact, exceptionally durable, and secure storage, transport, or conversion space. Thanks to its dimensions only slightly larger than a classic garage, it fits even in tighter spaces while offering full internal capacity for demanding tasks. Combined with the proven IICL 6 quality and the elegant RAL 7016 color, it becomes an indispensable helper not only in logistics, but especially in the management of historic properties such as castle estates. Container delivery is free throughout the Czech Republic upon meeting the conditions below!

Dimensions, Load Capacity, and Volume of the 6m Container

A standard 20-foot container has an external length of 6.06 m, a width of 2.44 m, and a height of 2.59 m. The interior space is slightly smaller, yet offers a volume of approximately 33 m³. The maximum load capacity reaches up to 28,280 kg, while the container’s own weight is around 2,200 kg – it is therefore capable of accommodating even very heavy equipment. This combination of robustness and compact dimensions makes the 20-foot container the most easily manageable type in the entire range of shipping containers.

IICL 6 Quality and RAL 7016 Color

The IICL 6 quality designation guarantees that this is a maritime container that has passed a strict inspection according to the standards of the Institute of International Container Lessors. The container is fully functional, with intact walls, floor, and sealing, and is suitable for further long-term use. IICL 6 quality means that the container exhibits only minimal cosmetic imperfections – no cracks, rotten spots, or leaks, a roof without deformations, and a floor without signs of damage. In other words, you receive a certified and 100% operational space that will reliably serve as a warehouse, workshop, or foundation for conversion.

The color RAL 7016 carries the official name anthracite grey. It is a deep, dark grey shade with a hint of graphite that looks elegant and timeless. Anthracite grey blends easily into historic environments, does not draw attention to itself, and resists visual pollution well – dust and seasonal deposits are not immediately visible on it. The color can also be repainted without difficulty if needed to match the shade with the facade of a specific building.

Use in Castle Estates

The small 20-foot shipping container has become an unexpectedly popular element precisely in the management of castles, chateaus, and adjacent parks. Its versatility and low maintenance requirements are appreciated by caretakers, management companies, cultural event organizers, and operators of castle cafés and shops. In historically sensitive environments where it is not possible to freely construct new brick buildings, a shipping container represents a mobile and fully-fledged alternative – without the need for a building permit, while preserving the authenticity of the estate and with immediate usability.

Storage Options for Castle Estates

Few castles have enough original cellar or attic spaces to accommodate all operational materials. A small shipping container therefore serves as a safe storage facility for garden equipment, maintenance tools, seasonal decorations, holiday lighting, costumes for period festivals, props, mobile stages, and stands. Thanks to perfect sealing and moisture resistance, it is also suitable for archiving documents, maps, and plans that require a stable climate. Furniture from unused rooms, statues awaiting restoration, rare textiles prepared for exhibition, or historic agricultural tools can be locked inside. The lockable mechanism on the doors, with the option of adding a padlock, provides maximum protection against theft and unauthorized handling.

What and How Much Fits in a 20-Foot Container

The volume of 33 m³ represents roughly the space of three standard deliveries. In practice, this means that you can safely store all garden machinery for the entire park – mowers, brush cutters, a small tractor with accessories, and fertilizers and substrates sealed against moisture. For organizing weddings and banquets, it can accommodate several dozen garden chairs, tables, party tents, decorative flower stands, and ceremonial arches. In winter, you can place outdoor statues, chestnut mechanisms, and ornaments inside, which would otherwise be damaged by frost. Up to 28 tons of payload means that even the heaviest stone elements or cast-iron benches pose no problem.

Transport of Materials and Exhibits

The container is not only used for static storage, but also for transport. When borrowing exhibits between castles or organizing exhibitions throughout the country, it can be used as a secure transport box for paintings, porcelain, chandeliers, tapestries, and smaller furniture – everything properly fixed inside. The robust steel construction protects against impacts and adverse weather during the journey. Loading and unloading is ensured by a standard hydraulic crane, which is able to safely move the container from the truck to the desired location.

Conversions and Other Uses

Thanks to its precisely series-manufactured dimensions and load-bearing structure, the 20-foot small shipping container is excellently suited for custom conversions. In a castle estate, the following can be created:

  • A stylish cashier’s booth and information kiosk – simply cut out a window with a counter, equip the interior with shelves and lighting, clad the outer shell with wood in the color of the local windows.
  • A small café or refreshment stand – with a serving window, counter, coffee machine, and storage spaces, serving visitors directly from the courtyard.
  • Public toilets – dividing the interior space into cubicles with washbasins, equipped with water and electricity distribution.
  • A children’s corner or dressing room for performers at festivals – with benches, hangers, and mirrors.
  • An exhibition pavilion – converted into a mini-gallery with a glass wall, backlit display cases, and a security system.
  • A storage facility for historic carriages and coaches – if the door height is not sufficient, the back wall of the container can be removed to create a drive-through shelter.
  • A mobile restorer’s workshop – equipped with a work table, lamps, fume extraction, and safe cabinets for restoration materials.

The advantage of a shipping container is that such a modified module can be moved at any time to another location within the estate according to current needs, or completely removed. It is not a permanent structure, so it does not require complex permitting procedures – yet it provides comfort comparable to a brick building.

Mobility and Practical Recommendations

The container can be placed on any hardened and level surface – on an asphalted area, concrete panels, or compacted gravel. For long-term placement, we recommend supporting the corners with concrete footings so that the bottom edge does not come into contact with the ground and ventilation is ensured. In a castle estate, the container can additionally be clad with wooden slats, a green roof with stonecrop or climbing plants, allowing it to discreetly blend into the historic environment. If it will serve as a cashier’s booth or café, it is worth installing an overhang on the roof to protect the staff from rain and sun. For frequent relocations, you will appreciate the standardized corner fittings, by which the container can be grasped with a forklift or crane.
