Are you looking for a reliable and spacious storage container that offers not only extra height but also maximum convenience when loading and unloading? We bring you a decommissioned 20′ High Cube container in the Open Side specification, stored in a depot in Gdansk, Poland. This model combines IICL 6 quality, an attractive anthracite grey RAL 7016 shade, and most importantly, a side wall that can be fully opened – eliminating the limitation of narrow front doors and giving you easy access to stored material along the entire length of the container. Container transport is not included in the price; independent pickup of the container from the mentioned depot in Gdansk, Poland is required.

Dimensions of the 20-foot High Cube OS container, load capacity and volume

High Cube (HC) denotes a container with increased height. While a standard 20′ container has an external height of 2,591 mm (8′ 6″), the HC variant reaches 2,896 mm (9′ 6″). This difference provides approximately 30 cm more headroom, which you will appreciate when storing taller items or when planning extensions, shelving, and mezzanines.

Standard parameters of a 20′ High Cube container:

  • External dimensions (length × width × height): 6,058 × 2,438 × 2,896 mm
  • Internal dimensions (length × width × height): approximately 5,898 × 2,352 × 2,695 mm (may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and degree of wear)
  • Volume: approx. 37.4 m³
  • Maximum load capacity: up to 30,480 kg (for standard models), with the tare weight ranging around 2,300–2,500 kg. The payload thus reaches approximately 28,000 kg.
  • Material: steel frame, corrugated sheet cladding, plywood floor (or steel/plywood depending on the design)

Dimensions are indicative and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

Thanks to these parameters, the container can easily accommodate bulky equipment, construction material, palletized goods, seasonal needs, or even a smaller vehicle. Side opening also allows you to use the entire volume without unnecessary aisles.

Open Side Specification – a practical solution for everyday operations

The Open Side container differs from a classic storage container in the construction of one of the long side walls. Instead of solid sheet metal, it is fitted with opening elements that allow full access to the interior. Most often, it consists of several separate door leaves that open to the sides and can be secured in the open position. Thanks to this, you can load or unload goods, pallets, tools, or construction material comfortably from the side – without having to maneuver through the narrow passage of the front doors.

This type of container will be appreciated by anyone who needs to store things that require frequent and quick access. The open side wall also facilitates ventilation and reduces the risk of moisture condensation when the container is used for seasonal storage. The construction remains sturdy and durable – the steel frame and plywood or steel floor ensure stability even under full load.

IICL 6 Quality – what this category means in practice

The IICL 6 designation is based on international standards for container evaluation (Institute of International Container Lessors). It is a nearly-new category that includes units capable of safely serving storage purposes, and are also fully certified for maritime transport. IICL 6 containers have undergone thorough inspection and meet the following characteristics:

  • Construction – the frame is intact, without cracks or deformations.
  • Floor – solid, without rotten spots, usually made of marine plywood with anti-slip treatment.
  • Doors and hinges – fully functional, sealing ensures protection against rain and dust. Locks and hinges are lubricated and without play.
  • Surface finish – the container is like new, with at most minimal abrasions after one trip from the factory, which it has completed. The surface is coated with anti-corrosion paint.
  • Safety – the unit contains no cargo residues, is cleaned and ready for immediate deployment.

For illustration – a container in IICL 6 quality is ideal as a construction cabin, material storage, workshop, garage for equipment, or a base for garden tools. For a price lower than a completely new unit, you get a fully functional container with a long service life that will serve you for many years.

RAL 7016 Color – anthracite grey with a modern character

The container is coated in RAL 7016 shade, known as anthracite grey. This dark, elegant color has a slightly bluish undertone and looks very contemporary – it fits perfectly into industrial areas, but also into the surroundings of family homes, where it becomes a discreet addition to the garden or driveway. Anthracite grey is also practical: the dark surface less conspicuously shows dirt and dust, so the container retains its neat appearance longer.

Picking up the container from the Gdansk depot in Poland

Please note that transport is not included in the price of the container. The container is stored in a depot in Gdansk, Poland, and its transport to the destination is arranged by the customer independently. For pickup, we recommend contacting a local carrier who has experience handling containers and has suitable equipment (e.g., hydraulic arm, flatbed or container chassis). Similarly, unloading of the container at the destination must be arranged independently. After the transaction is completed, you will receive from us all the documents and information needed for pickup – container number, depot address, contact details, and instructions for handover to the carrier. These documents just need to be handed over to the carrier of your choice, who will arrive at the depot on their basis and pick up the container.
