Are you looking for an efficient and safe way to store material, tools or goods at sawmills? A decommissioned shipping container of standard 20-foot size with AS IS 2 quality is an affordable and robust solution that will offer you plenty of storage space, flexibility and long life. In addition, transport to Uherské Hradiště and other places within the Czech Republic can be obtained completely free of charge if the conditions are met.

Technical parameters of a 20-foot container

Containers with a length of 20 feet (approx. 6 meters) are among the most widespread types of containers, which are used not only in transport, but also as storage spaces. Their dimensions are standardized:

  • external dimensions: approx. 6.06 m (length) × 2.44 m (width) × 2.59 m (height)
  • internal dimensions: approx. 5.9 m (length) × 2.35 m (width) × 2.39 m (height)
  • load capacity: up to 25,000 kg of payload
  • volume: approx. 33.2 m³

These parameters ensure that even larger quantities of bulky or heavy material can be conveniently stored in the container. The dimensions are indicative and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

Use of a decommissioned container for storage at sawmills

Decommissioned shipping containers represent an ecological and economical solution for expanding storage space at sawmills. These containers, originally intended for the transport of goods by sea, are still fully functional after being decommissioned from active service and, thanks to their robust steel construction, offer safe, protected and versatile storage spaces. You thus obtain a durable storage facility that can withstand the vagaries of the weather and the demanding conditions in the sawmill area.

Advantages of container storage at sawmills

Containers are designed to withstand extreme transport conditions, and are therefore also ideal for long-term and safe storage at sawmills. The main advantages include:

  • Safety and weather protection – The steel construction protects the contents from rain, snow and wind.
  • Burglary resistance – The rigid construction and the possibility of locking provide protection against theft.
  • Mobility and flexibility – The container can be easily moved as needed within the area.
  • Ecological solution – You give a second life to a decommissioned product and reduce the environmental burden.
  • Quick installation – Just place it in a suitable place, no complicated structural modifications are needed.

What can be stored in a container at a sawmill?

The use is really wide. The container at the sawmill can become a central warehouse for everything that needs to be at hand:

  • Spare parts and machines – From chainsaws to hand tools to spare parts for equipment.
  • Material for area maintenance – Paints, oils, fuel containers, cleaners, protective equipment or small building materials.
  • Products for sale – Storage of firewood, laths, planks, briquettes or other products prepared for customers.
  • Seasonal equipment – Garden furniture, work clothes, machines for winter or summer maintenance.
  • Packaging material and tools for dispatch – Boxes, tapes, foils and everything needed for packing and dispatching goods.

Storage of tools and equipment

Operating a sawmill requires a lot of tools and equipment. The decommissioned container provides space for:

  • Hand and power tools (saws, grinders, drills)
  • Spare parts for machines and vehicles
  • Protective equipment (helmets, gloves, shields)
  • Work clothes and shoes
  • Lubricants, oils and other operating fluids

Thanks to the lockability and the possibility of internal equipment (shelves, shelves, hooks), the storage is clear and safe.

Storage of equipment for area maintenance

The sawmill area requires regular maintenance and order. In the container you can store:

  • Seasonal utensils (rakes, shovels, brooms)
  • Chemicals and salt for winter
  • Garden equipment (mowers, hoes)
  • Material for repairs (boards, nails, fasteners)
  • Protective fences, barriers and cones

This way you have everything you need in one place, protected from the weather and thieves.

Storage of goods for customers

The container can also serve as a temporary warehouse for products ready for sale:

  • Firewood and briquettes
  • Laths, planks, construction timber
  • Bales of shavings, pellets or wood waste
  • Special orders waiting for dispatch

This ensures that the goods are always dry, clean and ready to be handed over to the customer.

How much fits in a 20-foot container?

A standard 20-foot container has internal dimensions of approximately 5.9 x 2.35 x 2.39 m (length x width x height) and a volume of over 33 m³. This means that you can comfortably store, for example:

  • Pallets with material (approx. 10–11 EUR pallets depending on the layout)
  • Dozens of meters of lumber, laths or planks
  • A complete set of tools, machines and maintenance equipment
  • Larger machines (small tractor, forklift)

The layout options depend on your needs – we recommend using shelves or hooks for maximum space efficiency.

Ideas and tips for effective use

  • Interior equipment – Install shelves, shelves, hooks or a work table for better organization.
  • Lighting and ventilation – For frequent access, consider adding LED lighting or ventilation openings.
  • Mobility – The container can be easily moved to another location in the area if needed.
  • Protection against moisture – Store sensitive material on pallets or use a dehumidifier.
