A decommissioned transport container with a size of 20 feet (6 meters) offers an affordable and practical solution for storing material, products or equipment. This type of container is in AS IS 10 condition, which means it has been retired from active transport but remains fully functional for storage purposes. A standard 20‑foot container is an ideal choice for companies and private individuals seeking a quick, safe and flexible way to expand their storage capacity. Delivery to Uničov and elsewhere in the Czech Republic is free upon meeting the conditions below!

Dimensions, Load Capacity and Volume of the 6‑meter Container

Standard dimensions of a 20‑foot shipping container:

  • External dimensions: 6.06 m (length) × 2.44 m (width) × 2.59 m (height)
  • Internal dimensions: 5.90 m (length) × 2.35 m (width) × 2.39 m (height)
  • Usable volume: approx. 33 m³
  • Load capacity: up to 25 000 kg

With these parameters a single container can hold a huge amount of goods, material or equipment – for example up to 11 standard Euro pallets. Dimensions are indicative and may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

Use of Decommissioned Transport Containers for Body Shops

Decommissioned transport containers that are no longer used for global freight offer body shops and auto service centres a practical and safe way to efficiently expand their storage space. These containers are still strong enough to store a wide range of materials, products and equipment needed daily in body shops.

Why Choose a Decommissioned Container for Storage?

Using a decommissioned container has many advantages – not only in terms of cost savings compared with building a new warehouse, but also because of the quick and simple installation.

A container is a standalone, lockable unit that protects its contents from weather, dust and unauthorised access. It can also be moved within a site or reused elsewhere in the future.

What Can Be Stored in the Container?

Containers are ideal for storing a variety of items commonly used in body shops:

  • Products – finished body parts, painted components, spare parts ready for installation or dispatch.
  • Materials – sheets, paints, lacquers, sealants, grinding materials, adhesives and other basic supplies.
  • Equipment – hand and power tools, compressors, work tables, ladders, carts or small machines.
  • Tools – wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, welders, grinders and other specialised body‑shop tools.
  • Maintenance items – cleaning agents, lubricants, protective gear, work clothing and other service necessities.
  • Goods for sale – storage of products intended for direct sale to customers, such as auto accessories or spare parts.

Benefits of Storing in a Container

Storing in a transport container provides body shops with several key benefits:

  • Theft and vandalism protection – robust steel construction and security locks.
  • Weather resistance – protection against rain, snow and UV radiation, minimising interior humidity.
  • Mobility and flexibility – the container can be relocated according to operational needs.
  • Modularity – additional containers can be added easily as the business grows.
  • Easy maintenance – the container requires no complex upkeep; minor repairs can be carried out quickly.

Layout Options and Capacity of a 20‑Foot Container

A standard 20‑foot container offers internal dimensions of approximately 5.9 m length, 2.35 m width and 2.39 m height. The total volume is about 33 m³. This allows for orderly storage of, for example:

  • Several dozen racks with tools and materials
  • Pallets with sheets or paints
  • Larger equipment (compressors, welders, mobile carts)
  • Loose spare parts and body‑shop components
  • Seasonal goods or material for temporary storage

The interior space can be organised with shelving units, hanging systems or pallets to maximise volume utilisation and improve inventory visibility.

Which Body Shops Is a Decommissioned Container Suitable For?

A decommissioned transport container is recommended especially for body shops that need a rapid and economical expansion of storage space but do not plan major structural modifications. If the container is not suitable for extensive conversions or structural alterations, it remains perfect for storage and protection of material and equipment.

Decommissioned transport containers are a reliable, safe and versatile storage solution for body shops. They provide ample space for products, materials, tools and equipment, protect against adverse weather, and enable quick expansion of storage capacity without demanding construction work. Take advantage of the potential offered by a decommissioned container and simplify the daily operation of your body shop!
