Dimensions of a 20‑foot container

Standard 20‑foot container has external dimensions of approximately 6.10 m length × 2.44 m width × 2.59 m height. Inside it offers a space of about 5.90 m length × 2.35 m width × 2.39 m height. The internal volume is roughly 33 m³ and the maximum payload up to 25 000 kg. Thanks to the robust steel or aluminium construction, the container is resistant to weather and mechanical damage.

Use of decommissioned transport container for storage for hop growers

Transport containers have long ceased to serve only for moving goods across oceans. A decommissioned transport container today, because of its robustness, durability and versatility, is used in many sectors – and hop growing is no exception. Hop growers will appreciate the storage possibilities this type of container offers, whether for raw materials, products, tools or equipment needed for daily operations.

Advantages of storage in a transport container

The biggest advantage of a decommissioned transport container is the safety and protection of stored items. Thanks to the solid steel construction, containers are resistant to weather, humidity and pests. The tight sealing prevents the entry of dirt and rain and significantly reduces the risk of theft. Containers can also be easily locked and placed directly on the ground where needed. Another plus is versatility – the interior can be fitted with shelves, racks or separate sections according to current needs.

What can be stored in the container

  • Products: Harvested hops, bundles, bags or boxes with finished product intended for further sale or processing.
  • Raw materials: Fertilizers, sprays, packaging, harvest bags, packing material and other raw materials needed for hop production.
  • Equipment: Harvesting tools, drying nets, protective clothing, crates, carts and other equipment used throughout the year.
  • Tools: Garden tools, hoes, scissors, mowers, brush cutters or other machines and mechanization.
  • Maintenance material: Paints, brushes, spare parts, ladders, ropes or other auxiliary items for hop house maintenance.
  • Items for sale: Finished products ready for dispatch, promotional materials, packaging, gift packaging and other items you need at hand.

Practical usage possibilities

A container can be divided into several sections, for example separate areas for clean products, tools and chemicals. Thanks to the massive construction, the container can be equipped with shelving, racks or hanging systems, which facilitates organization. The doors are wide enough for a pallet truck to enter, easing handling of heavier goods. If needed, ventilation or basic electrical equipment can be installed in the container.

How much fits into a 20‑foot container

A standard 20‑foot (6‑meter long) transport container has an internal volume of approximately 33 cubic meters and a payload of up to 28 tons. This means you can comfortably store dozens of hop bags, several pallets of raw materials, a complete set of garden tools and all the equipment needed for maintenance and operation. For illustration: one 20‑foot container can hold up to 10 standard EUR pallets, or for example hundreds of hop bags, all the necessary tools and seasonal equipment without the space becoming overcrowded.

Flexibility and mobility

A major benefit is mobility – the container can be moved to another part of the site or transported to a new location as needed. This is especially valuable during seasonal changes or renovations. The container can serve not only as storage but, after modification, also as simple accommodation for workers or a short‑term storage space during harvest.

Decommissioned transport containers represent a practical, safe and economical way for hop growers to efficiently and clearly store all products, raw materials and equipment in one functional space. Their versatility allows quick response to operational needs while enhancing protection and order throughout the area. If you are looking for a flexible storage solution, a transport container is the ideal choice for your hop‑growing business.
