Are you looking for a reliable, secure and spacious storage that can withstand the whims of weather while offering top-quality construction? We bring you a carefully selected shipping container with a length of 20 feet (6 meters) in one-trip IICL 6 specification, in an elegant shade of anthracite grey RAL 7016, equipped with the Easy Open Door (EOD) system and ten ventilation openings. This piece combines practically new condition with an attractive price – and is also perfectly suited as a storage for beekeeping needs. Container shipping is free of charge once the conditions below are met.
This container has a light scratch and the doors have been touched up with a brush – which is also why the price is reduced.
Dimensions, load capacity and volume of the 20ft container
The construction of the 20ft container complies with strict international standards, so you can count on completely accurate dimensions and capacity. The external length is 6,058 mm, width 2,438 mm and height 2,591 mm. Inside, you get a space approximately 5,898 mm long, 2,352 mm wide and 2,385 mm high. The total internal volume reaches approximately 33 m³, which is an area where you can comfortably store equipment for a medium-sized workshop, seasonal supplies or extensive beekeeping equipment. The maximum floor load capacity is typically around 28,000 kg, so even heavier machines, barrels of honey or pallets of materials can be loaded without worry.
One-trip IICL 6 quality – as new, just at more favourable conditions
The abbreviation IICL 6 denotes the highest grade of quality for used containers. These are so-called “one-trip” units that have made only a single ocean voyage with cargo and were subsequently retired from service in the logistics chain. As a result, they show only minimal signs of wear – in practice, these are containers that are virtually indistinguishable from brand new ones at first glance. The floor made of impregnated plywood is solid, undamaged, the walls are rust-free, the doors seal properly and the closing mechanism works smoothly. Compared to commonly available used containers (e.g., Cargo Worthy grade), you get a significantly longer service life and a flawless appearance.
Colour RAL 7016 – modern anthracite grey
The RAL 7016 shade, known as anthracite grey, gives the container a timeless and industrially elegant look. The dark metallic tone blends easily into surrounding buildings, gardens and agricultural homesteads without being intrusive. Unlike traditional blue, green or rusty brown containers, it does not draw unnecessary attention and at the same time excellently masks everyday dirt. The paint is applied with high-quality marine-grade coating that resists UV radiation and corrosion in the long term.
3-bar EOD opening system – easy opening even in winter
Opening container doors can sometimes be an unpleasant chore, especially when the seals have hardened from frost or the mechanism has been neglected. This container is equipped with the Easy Open Door (EOD) system with three opening bars on each door leaf. Thanks to the gear mechanism, far less force is needed to unlock and open the doors, which you will appreciate in everyday use. The doors can be opened smoothly and without sticking, whether you are wearing gloves or in a hurry.
10x ventilation openings – constant air circulation
For storing materials sensitive to moisture, ventilation is absolutely essential. This container is fitted with a total of ten ventilation grilles that ensure continuous air exchange. Moisture does not accumulate, mould does not form and stored items remain dry. Combined with the high-quality door seal, this creates an environment that protects the contents from rain and snow, and at the same time prevents condensation inside.
Minor cosmetic flaw – an advantage for you
This particular container bears a light scratch on the side and the doors have been locally touched up with a brush. This is not any functional or structural damage – only an aesthetic detail that does not affect the strength, tightness or service life in any way. Thanks to these minor imperfections, we can offer the container to you at an exceptionally favourable price. You get a practically new storage space of top quality, but at a significantly lower investment than you would pay for a completely flawless unit.
Storage for beekeepers – why a container is the best choice
The container provides beekeepers with absolute security and dryness above all. Lockable steel doors protect equipment against thieves and animals, while the insulated floor and ventilation system protect against moisture and mould. This eliminates worries about damp cellars, mouldy floors or expensive garage rentals. In addition, the container can be placed directly on the land next to the apiary, saving time when handling the bee colonies during the season.
What all can be stored in the container
A 20ft container can comfortably accommodate all beekeeping needs: supers, frames, honey supers, combs, spare hives, honey extractor, uncapping equipment, protective suits, smokers, tools, bee feed, as well as finished jars of honey (if the temperature is stable) and packaging material. The ventilation openings also allow storage of damp combs after extraction without them becoming mouldy – air flows through and excess moisture escapes.
How much fits in a 20ft container
With internal dimensions of approximately 5.9 × 2.35 metres and a height of 2.38 metres, the container can hold, for example:
- 30–40 full supers (depending on frame height)
- 10–15 complete hives stacked on top of each other
- a complete honey extraction line with a work table and shelves
- hundreds of jars and crates
- feed barrels and bags of sugar
Thanks to the rectangular shape with no internal pillars, the space can be utilised to the maximum.
Who the container storage is suitable for
The container will be appreciated by small and medium-sized beekeepers who do not have their own masonry outbuilding. It is suitable for beekeepers operating on rented land where permanent structures cannot be built – a container is not a building, so the complicated administration is avoided. It will also be used by associations, school beekeeping clubs or eco-farms that want to keep all their equipment together in one place.
Where to place the container
A reinforced area of gravel, concrete panels or compacted substrate is ideal. The container can also be placed on levelled ground, but we always recommend ensuring water drainage from the surroundings. It is important that it is accessible for a crane during unloading and subsequently for manual handling. Beekeepers often place it at the edge of the apiary, close to the honey house, or in an orchard where it does not disturb the surrounding buildings.
Other uses of the container in beekeeping
In addition to storage, a container can easily be converted into a mobile honey house. All you need to do is bring in electricity (e.g. via solar panels or a generator), install a basic worktop and a portable sink, and you instantly have hygienic facilities for honey extraction right by the bee colonies. In this case, ventilation ensures the removal of vapours and heat. Another option is a sales stand – by cutting out a window and installing a counter, a stylish sales box is created for farmers’ markets. The container can also be easily relocated to another site if you decide to expand the apiary or move to new pastures.
Where in the Czech Republic the container for beekeepers will be most useful
The highest concentration of beekeepers is found in southern Moravia, in the Břeclav, Hodonín and Znojmo regions, where orchards, vineyards and extensive rapeseed fields come together. This is precisely where many beekeepers lack sufficient storage capacity and a container is a quick solution. Another strong area is the Vysočina region, where hundreds of small beekeepers are engaged in beekeeping and where a steel storage is a welcome protection against harsh winters. It will also find use in the foothills of the Šumava, Krkonoše and Beskydy mountains, where it is important to protect equipment from snow and moisture. Last but not least, it will also serve beekeepers in the vicinity of large cities who need an inconspicuous and secure storage in the garden or in an allotment colony.
Ideas and inspiration for a beekeeping container
- Create a “honey cell” – line the interior with wood or OSB boards, add shelves and a work counter.
- Use the ventilation openings for drying herbs or pollen.
- Install battery-powered LED lighting and always have plenty of light in the container.
- Get two containers: one as storage, the other as a honey house with a serving window.
