Old Shipping Containers 20 Feet Decommissioned AS IS 2, 211 088-0
Old shipping containers with a length of 20 feet (approximately 6 meters) in AS IS 2 quality represent an affordable option for storage and other uses. These containers are no longer suitable for demanding conversions or structural modifications, but still offer robust sheet metal construction, durability, and secure lockable space. This is precisely why these old shipping containers are ideal, for example, for storing technical gases and gas bottles, as well as other materials that require protection from weather conditions. Container transportation to Odry and elsewhere throughout the Czech Republic is free upon meeting the conditions below!
Technical Parameters 20 Feet – Dimensions, Load Capacity, Volume
- External dimensions: 6.05 m (length) × 2.44 m (width) × 2.59 m (height)
- Internal dimensions: 5.89 m (length) × 2.35 m (width) × 2.39 m (height)
- Load capacity: up to 24,000 kg
- Volume: approximately 33.1 m³
These parameters allow for safe and efficient storage of larger quantities of technical bottles, pallets, or other larger materials. Dimensions are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
Old Shipping Containers as an Ideal Storage for Technical Gases and Gas Bottles
Old shipping containers that are no longer suitable for further conversions or structural modifications find excellent use precisely as storage – even for specific materials such as technical gases and gas bottles. Their robust construction, resistance to weather conditions, and lockability make them a very safe and practical solution for storing this type of goods.
Why Choose a Shipping Container for Gas Storage?
Shipping containers are designed for transporting goods in extreme conditions, which means they are watertight, protect against dust and contaminants, and resist mechanical damage. Doors with sturdy locks ensure secure closure and protection against unauthorized access. All of this is essential when storing pressurized gas bottles, where safety is paramount.
Possibilities for Use and Storage of Technical Gases and Bottles
Old shipping containers can be used for storing a wide range of technical gases – for example, oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, or gas mixtures used in industry and welding. Storage in a container is suitable for both full and empty bottles, as well as related equipment such as regulators, valves, and safety equipment.
Who is Container Storage Suitable For?
Storage of technical gases in a shipping container will be appreciated especially by small and medium-sized companies, welding shops, construction companies, auto repair shops, farmers, and manufacturing facilities. Old shipping containers are also an ideal choice for locations without the possibility of building a brick storage facility – for example, on construction sites, in areas with limited access, or in temporary operations. Thanks to mobility, the container can be easily moved to a new location according to current needs.
Where Can Gas Storage Containers Be Placed?
Old shipping containers can be placed practically anywhere there is sufficient space for handling bottles. They are most commonly used in closed company areas, on construction sites, in manufacturing plants, in agriculture, or in remote locations where gases need to be readily available. The advantage is that storage in a container does not require complex building modifications or high infrastructure investments.
Main Advantages of Storing Gas Bottles in a Container
- Safety: Solid steel construction protects against unauthorized entry and external fire.
- Weather protection: The container is resistant to rain, wind, snow, and UV radiation.
- Easy handling: Large doors allow comfortable access and handling even with heavy bottles.
- Mobility: The container can be moved to another location if needed.
- Flexibility: Ability to store various types of gases and equipment in one place.
- Low acquisition costs: Compared to building a new storage facility, an old container represents an affordable solution.
What Can Be Stored in a Container?
In addition to the pressurized bottles with technical gases themselves, the container can also store other accessories – for example, safety valves, protective covers, transport trolleys, welding supplies, or spare parts. The interior space can be supplemented with shelves, bottle holders, or impermeable floor liners to increase safety.
How Much Fits in a 20-Foot Container?
Old shipping 20-foot containers can hold approximately 80–100 standard pressurized bottles (with a volume of 50 liters) if stored in an upright position with sufficient space for safe handling. The number can of course be adjusted according to the size of the bottles and specific arrangement.
Recommendations and Ideas for Storage Equipment
- To increase safety, we recommend equipping the container with ventilation openings or installing shelf systems with sturdy bottle holders.
- Special collection trays can be used under the floor in case of gas or liquid leakage.
- For better orientation, you can mark individual sections according to gas type.
- If you plan to store larger quantities of bottles, also consider purchasing a larger (for example, 40-foot) container.
Why Choose Old Shipping Containers as Gas Storage?
If you are looking for a quick, safe, and flexible solution for storing technical gases and gas bottles, old shipping containers represent an ideal option. Their durability, versatility, and ease of installation make them a choice that pays off both for smaller operations and larger company facilities. A decommissioned container thus gets a new purpose and at the same time significantly facilitates and improves your business.
