Use of a sea container to ship to canneries

Sea containers are an indispensable tool for modern canned fish logistics. Thanks to their versatility and sturdy construction, they allow you to safely and efficiently transport not only fresh raw materials, but also finished products and the necessary tools. The containers are designed to meet the demanding conditions for transport from ports directly to production sites or distribution centres.

Transport of finished products: safety and reliability

Ready-to-eat canned fish needs to be transported with the same reliability as the raw material. Sea containers provide protection against moisture, dust and other external influences during long transport routes. A standard 40-foot cube container can hold a large amount of product due to its greater height. This allows for maximized volume and reduced cost per unit.

Transport aids and equipment

In addition to the raw materials and products themselves, canneries can also use containers to transport production equipment, tools and other essential components. The containers’ sturdy construction and protective features ensure that everything reaches its destination safely and ready for use.

Flexibility and other applications

Shipping containers are not just for transport. Fish canneries can also use the containers as on-site storage space. Refrigerated containers in particular are the ideal solution for storing stocks under optimal conditions. In addition, containers can be easily adapted to specific needs, for example by installing shelves or racks.

How much can a 40-foot cubic container hold?

A 40-foot high cube container has an internal volume of approximately 76.4 m³ and can transport tens of thousands of canned goods, fresh fish packaging or larger equipment. The higher height compared to conventional containers means that space can be used more efficiently, which is particularly appreciated by companies handling large consignments.

Recommendations for efficient use of containers

To maximise capacity, we recommend that cargo is positioned correctly – for example, stacking cans on stable pallets to facilitate loading and unloading. When transporting fresh fish, it is important to maintain the correct temperature conditions. That’s why we recommend investing in high-quality refrigerated containers.

Ideas for other container uses

In addition to transport and storage, canneries can also use containers as mobile offices or technical premises. Thanks to their durability and ease of mobility, they can be easily adapted for different purposes, for example as temporary premises for expanding production or as mobile shops right in the port.

Sea containers offer a wide range of uses for canneries, from the transport of fresh raw materials and finished products to storage and technical premises. Their durability, versatility and adaptability to specific needs make them an indispensable part of modern logistics. When used correctly, containers can significantly streamline processes, reduce costs and ensure that products reach customers in perfect condition.
