Decommissioned shipping container 6m retired from transport AS IS 5, 204 810-3
Are you looking for a reliable and affordable storage solution right on your premises? We offer decommissioned 20-foot shipping containers that have been retired from marine transport and can now serve as a practical warehouse for your business. We deliver these containers in AS IS 5 quality, which means a used condition with visible signs of service, yet still fully functional for storing materials, tools, or finished products. Delivery is available to Nýřany and anywhere throughout the Czech Republic.
Dimensions and Technical Parameters of the 6m Container
A standard 20-foot shipping container has an external length of 6.06 meters, a width of 2.44 meters, and a height of 2.59 meters. The internal space offers a length of approximately 5.90 meters, a width of 2.35 meters, and a height of 2.39 meters, which represents a storage volume of about 33 cubic meters. The original construction is designed for a load capacity of up to 28 tons, however, with a retired unit, you must take into account that it is not intended for further transport – its main advantage is the sturdy steel box ideal for static storage. The dimensions are approximate and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
AS IS 5 Quality
The designation AS IS 5 means that the container is sold in the condition in which it was retired from service. You can expect scratches, dents, occasional surface rust, and minor abrasions. The doors may close poorly, the floor bears signs of use, and the sealing may no longer be one hundred percent. Nevertheless, the steel construction is so robust that the container will safely protect stored items from weather effects and unauthorized access. This type of container is not suitable for conversions into living or office spaces – interventions in the construction could compromise its stability.
Storage for Manufacturers of Welded Assemblies
Are you in charge of welded assembly production and dealing with a lack of storage space? A decommissioned shipping container, which has already served its purpose in marine transport, represents a surprisingly practical and affordable solution. These robust steel boxes are designed to withstand extreme conditions at sea, and therefore even after years of service, they remain sturdy, watertight, and safe. Their use for storage in welded assembly production brings a number of advantages you may not have considered before. It is important to mention that a retired container is no longer ideal for conversions and structural modifications – its greatest strength lies in its simplicity and immediate usability for storing everything your workshop needs.
Advantages of an Old Container for Storage
The main advantage of a retired shipping container is its durability. The steel construction resists corrosion, moisture, and mechanical damage, so your stored items will remain safe from rain, snow, wind, and dust. The container is equipped with lockable doors, which ensures a high level of security against unauthorized entry. In addition, it is mobile – you can easily move it to another location using a crane or a truck, which you will appreciate when changing the layout of production. Another advantage is the speed of installation: as soon as the container arrives at your property, you just need to place it on a firm surface and start using it immediately. Compared to building a masonry warehouse, you save time and money, while gaining space comparable to a small room. And last but not least, it is an ecological solution – you give a second life to waste material that would otherwise end up in scrap.
What Can Be Stored in Welded Assembly Production
The versatility of the container allows you to store practically anything related to welded assembly production. From heavy components and large materials to small tools and consumables. The key is proper organization of the internal space, which you can adapt to your own needs – for example, using shelving systems, racks, or hanging brackets. Below, we will discuss in more detail what categories of items can be efficiently stored in a container.
Storage of Products
Finished welds, constructions, railings, frames, and other products waiting for shipment need a safe and dry place. The container provides ideal transitional storage, where products are protected from weather effects and damage. In a 20-foot container, you can fit, for example, several pallets with smaller welded assemblies or bulky pieces such as gate structures. The internal height of 2.39 meters also allows vertical storage, provided you choose suitable handling equipment.
Storage of Components
The production of welded assemblies often requires hundreds of small components – screws, nuts, washers, bearings, pins, fasteners, and other parts. In the container, you can organize these items clearly in drawer systems or boxes, gaining quick access and eliminating time losses from searching. Thanks to the dry environment, there is also no risk of corrosion of metal parts.
Storage of Materials
Raw materials such as steel sheets, profiles, tubes, bars, strips, and cutouts form the basis of every welding workshop. The container can also hold long and heavy materials – just support them properly or place them on stands. In a 20-foot container, you can load, for example, several tons of steel profiles up to 5.9 meters long, if you place them diagonally. For smaller pieces such as sheet metal plates, the entire floor area can be used, which offers about 13.9 m².
Storage of Equipment
Welding equipment, such as inverters, rectifiers, wire feeders, or cooling units, represents sensitive equipment that requires a stable environment free of moisture and dust. The container meets these conditions, and in addition, you can lock the equipment and protect it from theft. The internal space allows for the installation of electrical wiring, so the equipment can also be powered and used directly in the container if needed.
Storage of Tools
Hand tools, grinders, drills, pliers, measuring instruments, clamping fixtures, and other daily tools will find their permanent place in the container. Using magnetic strips, hooks, and wall panels, the walls can be used for hanging, thus freeing up the floor for heavier items. This way, you keep the workshop organized and reduce the time needed to prepare the workplace.
Storage for Maintenance
Every production needs supplies for the maintenance of machines and equipment – oils, lubricants, cleaning agents, spare parts for presses, benders, drills, and other equipment. These items often require storage in a cool and dry place, far from sources of heat and sparks. A container placed at a safe distance from the production hall will provide an ideal separated space, which reduces the risk of fire and preserves the quality of stored substances.
Storage for Employees
Employees will appreciate having lockable cabinets available for personal belongings, work clothes, footwear, helmets, and welding masks. The container can be easily equipped with benches and hangers, creating a comfortable changing room or relaxation corner. This improves working conditions and at the same time frees up space in the production hall that would otherwise be occupied by cabinets.
Storage of Goods for Sale
If your company also offers finished products for sale – for example, decorative metal elements, garden structures, or small welded assemblies – the container will serve as a safe warehouse for shipping goods. You can even use it as a pickup point right at the entrance to the premises, streamlining logistics and customer service.
Options and Capacity of the 20-Foot Container
The most commonly used type for storage is the 20-foot container, which offers internal dimensions of approximately 5.90 × 2.35 × 2.39 meters (length, width, height). This corresponds to a volume of about 33.2 m³ and a load capacity of up to 28 tons. In practice, this means you can comfortably place, for example:
- 10 standard euro pallets (1200 × 800 mm) in one layer on the floor,
- thousands of kilograms of steel material on racks,
- several welding machines and accessories,
- hundreds of small components in organized boxes.
Thanks to the robust floor made of plywood or aluminum, it also withstands point loading from heavy items. The doors on the front side open to the full width, which allows easy handling with a forklift. For even better access, a container with side doors can be considered, but given the limitation of modifications to the construction, it is more appropriate to use the standard design. A retired container is not intended for cutting, welding, or drilling, as this could compromise its strength and tightness. Nevertheless, even without modifications, it offers sufficient flexibility for organizing the internal space according to your requirements.
An old shipping container thus represents a smart, durable, and fast solution for storage in welded assembly production. Whether you need to store material, finished products, tools, or equipment for employees, this universal space will meet your expectations. Take advantage of its potential and gain valuable extra square meters that your production urgently needs. Without complicated conversions, without long waits – simply place it, load it, and forget about the problems of lack of space.
Delivery to Nýřany and Other Locations in the Czech Republic
We offer delivery of the shipping container to Nýřany and other places in the Czech Republic free of charge upon meeting a simple condition: if you simultaneously purchase two units of smaller sizes (8, 10, or 20 feet) or one unit of 40 or 45 feet. This offer applies only to standard shipping containers without modifications, which are delivered simultaneously to one destination. Delivery of only one container up to 20′ size costs 140€ excl. VAT = 170€ incl. VAT. Outside the Czech Republic, delivery must be arranged individually, always according to the specific destination. A crane is required to unload the container, which the customer arranges on their own. Loading the container at the depot is already included in the price.
A retired shipping container represents an economically advantageous alternative to building a masonry warehouse or renting storage space. Installation is fast, the container is immediately available and does not require a building permit. Its lifespan in the role of a warehouse is, with proper placement and occasional maintenance, several decades. Moreover, thanks to its mobile nature, you can move it to another site at any time. So if you are looking for a practical, durable, and affordable warehouse for your welded assemblies, tools, or material, an old 20-foot shipping container is exactly what you need.
