Decommissioned container for construction garden 20’ AS IS 10, 389 423-6
A decommissioned 20-foot (approx. 6-meter) shipping container is an ideal solution for those who need to quickly and easily create a warehouse on a construction site, in a garden, or in another area. These containers are marked as “AS IS 10”, which means that they have had a long service life in the transport of goods, and therefore are no longer suitable for conversions or major interventions in the structure. On the other hand, they still offer high resistance, robustness and safety for storing your things. Container transport to Milovice and elsewhere in the Czech Republic is free of charge if the conditions below are met!
Dimensions, load capacity and volume of a 20-foot container
Standard dimensions of a 20-foot container are approximately:
- length: 6.06 m
- width: 2.44 m
- height: 2.59 m
Internal dimensions allow efficient use of space. The container volume is around 33 m³ and the load capacity originally exceeds 25,000 kg, which is more than enough for storage purposes. Dimensions are indicative and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
Most decommissioned containers are still strong enough and protected against the weather, so your belongings will be safe.
Decommissioned container as a warehouse on a construction site or garden: an effective solution for your things
A decommissioned shipping container, which is no longer suitable for conversions or major construction work, still offers great possibilities for use – especially as a warehouse for unused items. This type of container is ideal for storing various equipment directly on the construction site, garden or yard. It is suitable wherever you need to quickly, safely and for a longer period of time store things that you are not currently using, but do not want to expose them to the weather.
Who is a container warehouse ideal for?
A decommissioned container as a warehouse will be appreciated by:
- Builders and companies: On construction sites, there is often a need for temporary storage space for tools, materials, forms, scaffolding or protective equipment.
- Home and garden owners: Allows safe storage of garden equipment, tools, mowers, furniture, sports equipment, tires or seasonal decorations.
- Hobby DIYers: For storing workshop material, wood scraps, metal profiles or older machines.
- Cottagers and holidaymakers: For seasonal equipment, bikes, motorbikes, boats, skis or camping equipment.
Where is a container warehouse suitable?
A decommissioned container can be placed almost anywhere where there is enough space – on a construction site, in the corner of a garden, in the yard or next to the garage. No complicated construction work or foundations are needed. All you need is a flat, solid surface, such as concrete tiles or gravel. This makes it possible to move or relocate the container at any time according to current needs.
Advantages of container storage
- Durability and safety: The steel structure protects against rain, snow, wind and sun. The doors can be locked, so your belongings will be safe from theft and nosy neighbors.
- Speed and simplicity: The warehouse is ready for use immediately, without the need for complicated construction or permits.
- Mobility: If necessary, the container can be easily moved to another location.
- Plenty of space: A standard 20-foot container can hold a surprising amount of things – from several bikes and mowers to garden furniture and building materials.
- Protection from the weather: Stored items are protected from moisture, UV radiation and snow, which extends their lifespan.
What can be stored in a container?
The possibilities are almost unlimited. In a decommissioned container you can store, for example:
- Garden tools, mowers, rakes, shovels, chainsaws
- Building material, brick scraps, bags of cement, scaffolding, tools
- Seasonal equipment: bikes, skis, snowboards, sleds, skates
- Garden furniture, umbrellas, grills
- Tires, car parts, older appliances
- Decorations, flower pots, flower boxes, foils and tarpaulins
- Camping and sports equipment
How much fits in a 20-foot container?
A standard 20-foot container offers an internal volume of approximately 33 cubic meters and a load capacity of around 20 tons. This means that it can hold, for example:
- 10 to 12 bicycles
- 2–3 mowers and a garden tractor
- Complete garden furniture for a family of four
- Several pallets of building material
- A large number of crates, boxes or bags
For better clarity, we recommend using shelves, hooks on the walls or storage boxes – thanks to this, you will effectively use every centimeter of space.
Ideas and recommendations for use
- Create a simple storage system in the container – shelves, shelves and hanging hooks will keep things tidy.
- Label the stored items for easy finding.
- When storing building materials, ensure good ventilation to prevent moisture condensation.
- If you use the container in the garden, you can paint its surface in the color of the house or decorate it with climbing plants for a more pleasant appearance.
