Using a decommissioned construction container for circuses: an ideal storage solution

Operating a circus requires constant movement, logistics, and above all, safe storage of all equipment. A decommissioned construction container represents an effective and economical solution for circus groups looking for durable and mobile storage space. These containers, which are no longer suitable for conversions or structural modifications, are ideal for use as temporary or long-term storage.

What can be stored in the container?

A decommissioned construction container offers a wide range of uses for storing various circus equipment. A basic overview of what can be safely stored in the container:

  • Equipment for performers – costumes, props, masks, shoes, and other personal necessities.
  • Tools and technology – musical instruments, sound equipment, lighting technology, cabling, generators.
  • Maintenance aids – tools, cleaning supplies, paints, adhesives, ladders, small construction materials.
  • Sales assortment – souvenirs, balloons, refreshments, commemorative items, promotional materials.
  • Animal facilities – feed, waterers, bedding (if needed).

Thanks to its robust construction and lockable doors, the container’s contents are protected from adverse weather and unauthorized entry.

Advantages of container storage

Storing circus equipment in a container offers numerous benefits:

  • Mobility – the container can be moved to a new circus performance location at any time.
  • Durability – shipping containers are designed to withstand wind, rain, and extreme temperatures.
  • Security – solid steel construction and the option to lock minimize the risk of theft or damage to equipment.
  • Clarity and order – the interior space can be customized with shelves or racks for easy sorting.
  • Flexibility – both large and small items can be stored, and if needed, the container can be used as a facility for staff.

Storage of equipment, tools, maintenance, and sales items

A circus is a complex organism where every detail plays a role. That’s why it’s practical to have everything together and protected. In the container, zones can be divided by purpose: for example, the front part for quickly accessible tools, the back part for storing supplies or sales merchandise. For the maintenance of technology and backdrops, it is advantageous to have a separate rack for tools and spare parts.

Internal arrangement options

The interior space can be adapted to the specific needs of the circus. A standard 20-foot container (approx. 6 meters in length, 2.4 meters in width, and 2.6 meters in height) offers a volume of around 33 m³. This means that you can comfortably store several dozens of crates with equipment, several shelving systems for costumes, technology, and still have space left for small tools or seasonal goods.

The container can be equipped with shelves, hooks for hanging props, costume hangers, or lockable boxes for valuables. This keeps the container tidy and everything easily accessible.

How much fits into a 20-foot container?

A volume of 33 m³ means that a 20-foot container can store, for example:

  • up to 150 medium-sized crates,
  • complete lighting and sound equipment for a standard circus tent,
  • costumes and props for the entire ensemble,
  • tools and maintenance equipment,
  • supplies of souvenirs and sales merchandise for several performances.

Everything depends on the organization of the interior space, but for normal circus operations, a 20-foot decommissioned container is more than sufficient.

Usage and expansion options

If the circus needs even more space, containers can be combined or stacked. Some teams use one container for technology and another for performer equipment. For long-term standing, the container can be supplemented with simple interior lighting or ventilation.

A decommissioned construction container offers circuses a practical, safe, and flexible solution for their storage needs. It provides ample space, resistance to weather conditions, and the option to lock. The organization of the interior space is up to you – whether you need to store technology, props, costumes, maintenance tools, or sales merchandise, the container will reliably protect everything and facilitate the daily operation of the circus.
