Retired shipping containers with a length of 20 feet, approximately 6 meters, remain a sought-after solution for storage in both industrial and private sectors. Decommissioned containers in AS IS 2 quality are suitable especially for static storage, where high aesthetic value or preparation for structural modifications is not necessary. For conversions and structural interventions, these old shipping containers are no longer ideal, but their robustness and spaciousness still offer a range of practical uses. Container transport to Český Brod and elsewhere throughout the Czech Republic is free upon meeting the conditions below!

Dimensions of a 20-foot container

  • length: 6.06 m
  • width: 2.44 m
  • height: 2.59 m
  • internal volume: approximately 33 m³
  • load capacity: up to 28 tons (for static storage typically more than sufficient)

Dimensions are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

Retired shipping containers for oil and lubricant storage

The use of old shipping containers as storage space for oils and lubricants is becoming increasingly popular, particularly due to several key advantages:

  • safety and protection: The container is lockable, protects contents from weather and unauthorized access.
  • mobility: If needed, the warehouse can be easily relocated within the facility or to another location.
  • quick deployment: No building permit or complex preparations required.
  • durability: The steel structure is designed for extreme loads and long service life even in demanding conditions.

Usage options and tips for storing oils and lubricants

Retired 20-foot shipping containers are an ideal choice for companies, auto repair shops, farmers, construction companies, or technical services that need to safely store drums, barrels, canisters, or smaller containers with oils, lubricants, and other operational liquids.

What can be stored in a 20-foot container?

  • Plastic or metal drums (200 l)
  • Canisters and smaller packaging
  • IBC containers (1,000 l)
  • Cartons with packaged oils, additives, cleaning products
  • Work tools and accessories for liquid handling

Example capacity:

One 20′ container can hold approximately 80 drums of 200 liters each, or 10–12 IBC containers (depending on layout and pallet use). You can also combine multiple types of packaging, equip the container with shelves or spill containment trays.

Who is the oil and lubricant warehouse from a container suitable for

  • repair shops and auto repair shops: For safe and organized storage of operational liquids, oils, lubricants, and related materials.
  • farmers: For storage of oils, hydraulic fluids, preparations, and spare parts outside the main operation.
  • logistics and construction companies: For mobile warehouses on construction sites, in temporary operations, or during seasonal events.
  • technical services of cities and municipalities: For maintenance of equipment and machinery, storage of supplies and accessories.
  • fire departments, workshops, industrial enterprises: For safe separate storage of substances outside main buildings.

Where can a warehouse from a shipping container be placed

Retired shipping containers can be placed practically anywhere with a sufficiently compacted surface – in a company facility, in a parking lot, near a production hall, in the yard of an agricultural property, in a storage area, or in more remote spaces where quick access to materials is needed while safely separating hazardous substances.

Before storing oils and lubricants, it is advisable to equip the container with a spill containment tray or shelves, which will facilitate handling and increase the safety of stored materials.

Advantages and recommendations for storing oils and lubricants in a container

  • quick solution without the need for structural modifications
  • possibility of adding spill containment trays, shelves, ventilation, or monitoring
  • safe and separate storage of hazardous substances
  • easy inventory control – clarity and organization
  • possibility of relocating the warehouse if needed

We recommend regularly checking the condition of the floor and door seals to prevent liquid leakage into the surroundings. For increased safety, mechanical locks or electronic monitoring can be added.
