The volume of this container is approximately 33.2 m³, providing ample space for storing a wide range of items. Using a decommissioned container for storage in sheltered workshops: a practical solution with many advantages

Decommissioned shipping containers, commonly referred to as “AS IS,” offer a wide range of uses even after they no longer serve their original purpose in transport. One of these options is their transformation into efficient and practical storage spaces for sheltered workshops. Thanks to their robust construction, versatility and durability, these containers can be an ideal solution for storing a variety of equipment, tools and products.

Advantages of storage containers for sheltered workshops

Using a decommissioned container as a storage space offers a number of advantages. First of all, it is an affordable and quick solution that does not require complex construction modifications. Containers are resistant to weather conditions, protect stored items from rain, snow, sun or wind and provide a safe environment even in harsh conditions. Their solid construction ensures long life and easy maintenance.

Another advantage is flexibility – containers can be easily moved as needed and placed in various locations on the site. In addition, they do not require solid foundations, which speeds up and simplifies their installation.

What can be stored in a container?

Containers offer versatile storage options that cover most of the needs of sheltered workshops. The most commonly stored items include:

  • workshop products – finished products, semi-finished products or materials needed for production. The container can serve as a temporary warehouse before shipment or as a place to store supplies.
  • tools and equipment – from hand tools to larger machines. The container keeps everything in one place, in order and protected from external influences.
  • maintenance supplies – tools and materials needed for site maintenance, such as mowers, rakes, paints or cleaning products, can be conveniently stored in the container and easily accessible at any time.
  • personal belongings of employees – containers can also be adapted for storing personal items of workers, such as work clothes, shoes or other equipment.

How to use the space of a 20-foot container?

A 20-foot container is one of the most common sizes on the market, measuring approximately 6 × 2.4 × 2.6 meters. This space offers a capacity of around 33 cubic meters, providing ample space for a wide range of items.

For efficient use of space, the container can be equipped with shelves, racks or hooks for hanging tools. This maximizes the use of both floor space and vertical space. As a result, a 20-foot container can hold, for example, dozens of boxes of material, larger machines, or complete sets of workshop tools.

Tailor-made storage for the needs of sheltered workshops

Decommissioned containers can be adapted to the specific requirements of sheltered workshops. In addition to basic modifications such as shelves, they can also be equipped with security features such as
anti-burglary locks.

They offer not only protection of stored items, but also the possibility of customization according to specific needs.
