Specifications for the 20 HC shipping container
The HC shipping container is made from anti-corrosive steel: Corten A and is constructed from vertical corrugated steel sheets – known as trapezoidal sheet. This material is fully recyclable and consists of natural utility steel with original additives that ensure its resistance to atmospheric conditions. This guarantees their durability and long lifespan. The steel walls and frame provide the container with strength and the ability to withstand harsh conditions during sea transport.
Due to its nature, Corten steel develops a characteristic rusty patina over time, serving as natural protection against further corrosion and effectively halting additional oxidation of the material. Decommissioned containers, which may have had their surface paint removed from the most exposed areas, are often recognizable by their unique appearance due to the rusty patina. However, this patina does not imply that the containers are subject to corrosion or loss of utility, as COR-TEN steel is designed to ensure that such aesthetic changes do not affect durability or usability.

Floor, walls, and doors of the container
The floor of the container is usually made from hardwood that is resistant to wear and provides stability for the cargo. The wooden floor is made from 28mm thick plywood from hardwood. After the completion of the floor, all lower structures and the floor are treated with an asphalt coating with a minimum dry film thickness of 200 microns.
In the production of each container, manufacturers are required to ensure resistance to temperatures ranging from -30°C to +80°C without fundamentally damaging the basic structure, as well as water resistance.
The container doors are made from 3.00 mm thick horizontal pressed corrugated steel sheets for the upper and lower parts, while the middle section of the doors is 2.0 mm thick. The shipping container is equipped with two double-wing doors on the rear frame, and each door can rotate approximately 270 degrees. The side walls of the container are made from steel panels that are 1.6 mm thick.
Each container features two small plastic ventilation grills located at the top. Each grill is attached to the upper right part of each side wall with three aluminum screws (5.0 mm in diameter) and sealed with a sealant to prevent leakage.
Manufacturing material
All door hardware is hot-dip galvanized with a thickness of approximately 75 microns, and all fasteners, hinges, cam catches, and mounting hardware are electro-galvanized with a thickness of approximately 13 microns.
All steel surfaces, including welds, are completely shot-blasted. Subsequently, they are coated with an epoxy primer. After the primer dries, the exterior of the container is repainted with a second layer of epoxy coating and finished with a high-strength topcoat, e.g., RAL 5010. The interior side of the container is coated with a high-strength epoxy resin-based coating cured with polyamide, with a dry film thickness of 40 microns for both the exterior and interior.
