Used Shipping Container – Ideal Solution for Mobile Storage for Paleontologists
This used maritime container type 22G1 with a height of 2.6 m (8’6″) offers robust construction and unique equipment that will be appreciated especially by professionals working in the field. The container features Forklift Pockets – special rectangular openings integrated in the bottom frame that allow easy and safe handling of the container using a forklift (VZV). It is also equipped with four-lever (rod) door opening for quick and convenient access to the entire space. Two ventilation openings (Air Vent) ensure air circulation and prevent condensation. Certification marking iC 87 and approval by SNCF (French National Railways) IC87 guarantee quality and reliability for international and domestic use.
Significance of Forklift Pockets and Other Equipment
Forklift Pockets handling openings are a key element for field logistics. They allow you to lift and move the entire container quickly, safely, and efficiently in environments where a crane cannot be used – for example, at field research sites or construction sites. Four-lever door opening is standard for maritime containers and allows quick access and handling of larger items. Air Vent ventilation openings significantly help maintain a dry interior environment without odors, which is crucial when storing sensitive scientific finds.
Why This Container is Ideal for Paleontologists
Paleontologists often work in demanding conditions and need mobile storage that can be easily moved from place to place while providing sufficient space and security for storing rare finds, tools, documentation, and equipment. With Forklift Pockets, the container can be efficiently moved within the base or relocated to a new excavation site at any time. Thanks to four door levers, you can quickly access stored equipment and materials. Ventilation openings will prevent unwanted moisture that could damage fossils or archival materials.
How to Use the Container as Mobile Storage for Paleontologists
A 20-foot container can hold a large amount of equipment – for example, several complete sets of excavation tools, fossil boxes, documentation shelves, work tables, protective equipment, and portable laboratories. Inside, you can create a systematically organized storage according to current needs – for example, separate zones for finds, tools, and protective suits. Robust construction and certification allow safe long-term storage and transport of sensitive collections between sites or laboratories.
Who This Type of Container Equipment is Most Suitable For
This container is ideal not only for paleontologists and their teams, but also for geologists, archaeologists, research institutions, universities, or museums conducting field research. It will also be useful for expeditions focused on natural sciences that need secure and easily movable base storage. Forklift Pockets handling openings will be appreciated by anyone who needs to flexibly and without unnecessary delays move entire storage along with stored materials.
What Can Be Stored in the Container and How Much Fits
A 20-foot container (approximately 6 m long) and 2.6 m high offers a volume of approximately 33 m³. It can comfortably hold up to 10–12 euro pallets or several dozen crates with fossils, equipment, tools, and documentation. You can install shelving systems, hang lights, or divide the interior space according to current research needs.
Additional Ideas and Uses for Paleontologists
The container can be used in the field not only as storage, but also as a field base for work, mobile laboratory, place for sorting and cataloging finds, protected archive, or even as a base for the team. After minor modifications, it can also serve as a temporary workshop or place for safe storage of equipment and devices used in research.
A used shipping container with Forklift Pockets, four-lever opening, and ventilation openings represents a reliable and universal foundation for mobile storage not only for paleontologists. It enables efficient handling, safe storage of sensitive materials, and easy adaptation according to current needs of field research. Its robustness, certification, and practical equipment predestine it for use in the most demanding conditions – try it on your expedition too!
