Dimensions and capacity of a 20-foot container
A shipping container of 20 feet is one of the most used types of containers in the world. Its standard dimensions ensure easy handling and flexibility of use. The internal length is 5.9 m, width 2.35 m and height 2.39 m. The container volume reaches 33.2 m³ and its load capacity is up to 25,000 kg, which allows storage of a large amount of material, tools or other equipment. Dimensions are approximate and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
Thanks to its robust steel construction, the container is resistant to adverse weather conditions and ensures the safety of the stored contents.
Use of a decommissioned shipping container for municipalities: efficient storage with endless possibilities
Decommissioned shipping containers, often referred to as AS IS, represent a practical and flexible solution for storage. Whether your municipality is small or large, a container can be an ideal means for storing municipal equipment, seasonal equipment or other needs. Let’s take a look at the benefits and possibilities that these containers offer.
Benefits of storage in shipping containers
One of the biggest advantages of using a decommissioned shipping container is its durability and versatility. Containers are designed to withstand extreme conditions during sea transport, which means they are waterproof, strong and protect the contents from the weather. This robust design is ideal for outdoor storage, without the need for additional structural modifications.
Another important advantage is mobility. The container can be easily moved according to the current needs of the municipality. Do you need to have a warehouse closer to sidewalk maintenance in winter and closer to the city park in summer? No problem! Thanks to easy handling, the container is always where you need it.
In addition, containers are an economical solution. Compared to building new storage space or renting warehouses, they represent lower costs and faster implementation.
What can be stored in a container?
Storage options are almost unlimited. Containers provide a safe haven for:
- municipal equipment: Storing lawnmowers, leaf blowers, brush cutters or tractors is simple and efficient thanks to the container’s durability.
- seasonal equipment: Trampolines and garden furniture in summer, snow shovels, sledges or salt mixtures in winter. The container stores everything you don’t currently need.
- building materials: Sand, cement, paving or plastic pipes can be easily stored without fear of moisture or damage.
- tools: From small tools to large machines. The container provides a safe place where you have everything within reach and protected from theft.
- things for social events: Tents, benches, lighting or city decorations. With the container, everything is organized and ready to use.
How much fits into a 20-foot container?
A standard 20-foot container, which is one of the most popular sizes, offers a storage space of approximately 33 cubic meters. To give you a better idea – the container can comfortably hold a load of approximately 10-12 europallets. This space is sufficient for most of the needs of municipalities, whether it is for storing small equipment, tools or materials.
A decommissioned shipping container is a great helper for every municipality that is looking for a practical, durable and flexible storage solution. Whether you need to store equipment, materials or seasonal equipment, the container is an ideal choice that will save you time, money and worries.
