Discarded shipping containers of 20 feet (6 meters in length) are an affordable and practical storage option. Quality marked “AS IS 2” containers are phased out of international shipping, but still offer reliable storage space for low-maintenance purposes. Their robust construction and standardised dimensions make them a versatile solution for a wide range of needs. Container shipping to Trinec and elsewhere in the country is free after meeting the conditions below!

Dimensions and capacity of the 20ft container

The 20ft shipping container has an internal length of approximately 5.9m, a width of 2.35m and a height of 2.39m. The volume is 33.2 m³, which provides plenty of space for storing large quantities of materials or products. The load capacity of the container is up to 25,000 kg, while the empty weight of the container itself is around 2,300 kg. Dimensions are approximate and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

Thanks to its standardized dimensions, this container is ideal for storing various equipment, goods or tools. In addition, it allows for easy handling and transport using commonly available equipment, making it a flexible choice for any storage operation.

Transport to Trinec and elsewhere in the Czech Republic

We offer transport of the 20ft container directly to Trinec and other locations throughout the Czech Republic. Shipping is free with simultaneous pickup of two 8′, 10′ or 20′ containers, or one larger 40′ or 45′ model. This offer applies only to containers delivered to one address.

Shipping of only one container within the Czech Republic up to 20′ size is 140€ without VAT = 170€ including VAT. Outside the Czech Republic it is necessary to ask for shipping individually according to the destination. For the container to be assembled on site it is necessary to arrange a crane, which the customer arranges separately. Loading of the container at the depot is already included in the price.

A 20-foot decommissioned shipping container is a versatile solution that will meet your expectations. Whether you’re looking for storage space for your shop or thinking of a practical use for the container for other purposes, this option is the perfect choice for efficient and affordable storage.

Using a decommissioned shipping container to store machinery and accessories

Decommissioned shipping containers, referred to as “AS IS”, offer a wide range of possibilities for subsequent use, despite their previous wear and tear or minor defects. One of the most practical uses is for the storage of goods, tools and equipment. For computer, digital and office equipment shops, such a container can be an ideal solution due to its features, capacity and flexibility.

Benefits of storage in a decommissioned shipping container

Containers were originally designed to transport goods over long distances and in extreme conditions, making them very durable and secure storage spaces. They are made of high quality steel that is weather resistant, protecting the stored items from rain, moisture or dust.

For electronics and computer shops, it is crucial that storage areas are dry, lockable and easily accessible. Shipping containers fully meet these requirements. In addition, they are mobile, which allows them to be moved within the premises according to current needs.

What can be stored in a container?

Shipping containers serve as a versatile storage space that can accommodate a wide range of goods and equipment. For computer, digital and office equipment retailers this can include:

  • Inventory of goods for sale: computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, mice, servers and other products waiting for their customers.
  • Spare parts and accessories: cables, adapters, batteries, printer cartridges or protective packaging.
  • Shop equipment: racks, stands or presentation panels that are not currently in use.
  • Maintenance tools: cleaning products, cleaning tools or technical equipment for repairs.

Thanks to its spaciousness and storage organisation, you can easily divide the different categories of goods and keep track of everything.

The capacity of a 20-foot container

A standard 20-foot shipping container is 6,058 mm long, 2,438 mm wide and 2,591 mm high, providing approximately 33 m³ of storage space. This corresponds to the capacity of a smaller warehouse. This space makes it possible to store larger quantities of goods and equipment. For example:

  • up to 50 desktop computers including monitors,
  • hundreds of packages of accessories such as keyboards and mice,
  • shelving for spare parts,
  • or a combination of supplies and maintenance tools.

Thanks to its standard shape and dimensions, the container can be easily adapted to specific needs – for example, by installing shelving or dividers for better space organisation.

Examples of practical container use

Do you run a computer shop and need more space outside the main shop? A decommissioned shipping container can be the ideal solution. You can store:

  • Seasonal goods: for example, printers or laptops that sell more during a certain period (for example, before Christmas).
  • Bulky items: servers or large monitors that take up too much space in the shop.
  • Goods awaiting repair: if you provide a service, you can use a container to temporarily store equipment awaiting repair or replacement.
  • Maintenance equipment: tools, protective films or cleaning products needed to maintain the shop or warehouse area.

Inspiration and ideas for efficient storage

To make storage in a discarded shipping container as efficient as possible, it is a good idea to follow a few guidelines:

  • Create a layout plan: divide the space into sections according to the type of goods. Place frequently used items near the entrance and less used items towards the back.
  • Use shelving: Vertical storage helps make the most of the height of the container.
  • Ensure clarity: Label each section or box with labels to quickly find the item you want.
  • Protect sensitive goods: If you store electronics, use protective packaging or boxes to protect them from impact.

A decommissioned shipping container is a practical, durable and cost-effective solution for storing everything your store needs. Whether it’s inventory, tools or maintenance equipment, this space will give you the flexibility and security you’re looking for. Turn an unused container into a functional storage unit and gain extra space to grow your business!
