In 2017, the fourth expansion phase was completed, which significantly increased the port’s capacity. The port can now handle more than 40 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) per year.

Yangshan Deep Water Port is the world’s largest automated container terminal. Automation includes the deployment of 130 automated guided vehicles (AGVs), overhead cranes, gantry cranes and other equipment. This system significantly increases the efficiency of operations while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 10%.
