Twistlock safety locks are designed for stacking shipping containers on top of each other. The container lock is equipped with a positioning plate on both ends, which is inserted into the holes cut in the corner castings of the container. It is designed and used to secure the container against slipping.
The safety lock is supplied with a handle – the so-called plate, thanks to which two transport containers can be locked or unlocked together. Although shipping containers are designed to be stacked, they must be locked together with container stacking locks in locations where they may be prone to movement, such as in strong winds, or where there is a possibility of collision (such as in trucking) or sliding through security.

The twist lock is one of the main means of fixing and connecting individual containers during loading and transportation. Its locking system is based on the rotation of a special latch mechanism, which is located in the corner part of the container.
The twist lock has several advantages:
Security: Twist lock is designed to provide a strong and secure connection between containers. This lock prevents the containers from moving during handling and transport.
Easy and quick installation: Twist locks can be easily attached and detached with a special tool. This enables quick and efficient handling of containers during their loading, unloading and storage.
Universality: Twist locks are standardized and compatible with most types of shipping containers. This means that they can be used with different types of containers and are easily adapted to transport needs.
However, it should be noted that these twist locks are primarily intended only for connecting and fixing containers during transport. To ensure overall stability and safety during handling of containers on a solid surface, safety locks without plates are used.
