Technical parameters and load capacity of a 20-foot container

A standard 20-foot shipping container is approximately 6 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and 2.6 meters high. Thanks to these dimensions, it offers an internal volume of approximately 33 cubic meters, which provides enough space to store a larger amount of material, tools or other equipment. The container’s load capacity is usually around 28 tons, which guarantees that it will hold even heavy objects without damaging the structure. Dimensions are approximate and may always vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

AS IS 5 Quality

Using a container of AS IS 5 quality means that it is decommissioned from international shipping due to signs of wear and tear, such as minor scratches, dents or surface corrosion. However, its construction is still solid and functional, making it ideal for storage purposes.

Using a decommissioned shipping container for archiving: a great storage solution

Decommissioned shipping containers, also known as containers “AS IS”, are becoming increasingly popular due to their wide range of uses. One of the less traditional but very practical options is their use in archiving. If you are looking for an efficient and safe way to store documents, tools or other archived items, a decommissioned shipping container may be the right solution. Let’s take a detailed look at why decommissioned shipping containers are an ideal choice for this purpose.

Benefits of storage in a shipping container

Decommissioned shipping containers are robust, weather-resistant and offer a safe place for storage. Their solid construction of steel ensures protection against moisture, pests and mechanical damage. This makes it possible to store sensitive archival documents without fear of their degradation.

Another advantage is their flexibility. A standard 20-foot container offers a volume of approximately 33 m³, which is sufficient space for storing a large amount of material.

What can be stored in a container for archiving?

A shipping container is an ideal choice for storing a wide range of items related to archiving. The most common uses include:

  • document archiving: The container provides a dry and safe environment for storing paper documents, books, records or plans. A system of shelves inside ensures clarity and easy access to individual items.
  • tool storage: For the maintenance of the archiving area or the handling of archived items, it is necessary to have various tools and equipment at hand. The container offers enough space to store these items in an organized manner.
  • storage of maintenance accessories: Cleaning products, painting supplies or garden tools – all of this will find its place in the container. This will ensure that the maintenance of your archiving space is always within reach.
  • other archived items: In addition to documents, the container can store, for example, works of art, historical artifacts or valuable collections. The possibility of adjusting the space according to the specific requirements of individual items is important.

How much fits into a 20-foot container?

A standard 20-foot shipping container is approximately 6 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and 2.6 meters high. The total volume is approximately 33 m³, which corresponds to a capacity of approximately 10 Euro pallets. A really large number of archived items can fit into such a space, whether it is boxes with documents, tools or shelves.

Thanks to its modularity, the space inside the container can be arranged to be as efficient as possible. Shelves, boxes or special handles allow you to store things clearly and safely, which is key in archiving.

Why choose a shipping container for archiving?

Shipping containers are not only an affordable solution, but above all an ecological one. By recycling a
decommissioned container, you contribute to environmental protection. In addition, you get a space that is robust, flexible and adaptable to your needs.

Whether you need to store documents, tools or other archival items, a decommissioned shipping container is the ideal solution. Thanks to its versatility and durability, it will provide you with a safe and practical place for all your needs.
