Shipping with containers
Shipping containers are becoming increasingly important for museums looking to transport their collections safely and efficiently. Renowned for their structural strength and water resistance, these containers provide the ideal conditions for transporting the valuable and fragile artefacts that museums often exhibit.
Advantages of using shipping containers
There are a number of important advantages to using shipping containers. Firstly, they protect artefacts from harsh weather conditions and physical damage. Cargo Worthy containers ensure that objects are transported safely without risk of water or dust damage. In addition, their standardised dimensions make loading, unloading and transport simple and efficient, saving time and money.
Transportable exhibits
A wide range of museum artefacts can be transported in shipping containers. From large sculptures and paintings to delicate textiles and archaeological finds. Each container can be customised to specific needs, for example with air conditioning to maintain the constant temperature and humidity essential for the storage of delicate materials. Other examples include historic vehicles, furniture or even entire exhibitions that need to be transported from one place to another.
Other uses of museum containers
In addition to transport, museums can also use shipping containers as temporary storage units. The containers are durable and weatherproof, making them ideal for storing exhibits outside the museum building, for example during renovation or conversion work. The containers can also be used for interactive outdoor exhibitions or as mobile galleries to bring art and culture directly into the local community.
How to transport safely
The key to safe transport is the proper packing and securing of exhibitions in containers. We recommend special packing materials that absorb shock and protect against vibration. Temperature and humidity control are also important and can be ensured by installing special air conditioning systems. Before transport, the container should be thoroughly checked to ensure its integrity and functionality.
Suggestions and ideas
Museums considering the use of sea containers should consult experts in logistics and transport of objects. They can provide valuable advice on best practices and techniques for securing artefacts. It is also prudent to consider insuring the artefacts being transported to protect the museum from potential accidents or damage.
In conclusion, shipping containers are a versatile and reliable solution for museums that need to transport or store collections. Their flexibility and durability make them an indispensable tool for modern museums.
