How to Register and Pick Up a Container from the Metrans Depot?
- After properly closing the deal and paying the invoice, you will receive instructions for picking up the container from the warehouse depot:
2. Install the MTrucks app preferably on your mobile (if registering via computer, you will not be able to enter “container pickup” upon arrival at the warehouse depot).
A functional mobile phone with the app installed is essential for pickup.
3. Now create a registration (if you are a new driver who has not previously been at the depot – otherwise, use your existing login details)
4. If you are not a Metrans driver, you need to select “foreign driver” at the top
5. Fill in the required information and click the “create new account” button (information in the picture is illustrative, it is important to fill in the correct details)
6. Now verify your registration via the link sent to your provided email address
7. The page will redirect you to create an account password, which you confirm by entering it twice
8. Now proceed to log in to your account
9. After logging in, select the correct terminal where you want to pick up the container, confirm the agreement, and press the “continue” button
10. Select “CONTAINER FOR REMOVAL” since you want to pick up and remove the container
11. Correctly select the code for container pickup. By default, it is “RELEASE,” if you received a “PIN,” remember that you must also enter the container number (see the second picture – if the system does not accept it, try the variant without space or dash)
12. Now verify the reference number (the system will verify its correctness, and if you do not have an error in the code, it will allow you to proceed to the next step)
13. If everything is entered correctly, the system will offer you available containers for pickup under the specified number (select the correct size, type, and number of pieces you need to pick up)
14. The system will now show you again for verification: the terminal and the specific container that is ready for removal
ONLY AT THE MOMENT YOU ARE ACTUALLY STANDING IN FRONT OF THE WAREHOUSE DEPOT – PRESS “START JOURNEY” TO BEGIN THE CONTAINER PICKUP PROCESS.
15. Once you have correctly entered the specific containers for pickup in the app (Of course, only what you can load onto the truck – you cannot pick up e.g., 4 containers if you can only place 2 containers on the trailer at a time. In the app, you enter only the number of containers you can currently transport) and press “RESERVE SLOT”
16. Now select the time slot when you can realistically pick up the containers (ideally do this when you are actually in front of the terminal), to avoid situations where you might be e.g., 3 hours away from the terminal and then encounter a traffic situation that prevents you from arriving at the terminal on time!
17. In the entered time slot for pickup, you will receive a unique code for the chosen number of containers, which you will show to the gate staff. Then the containers will be handed over to you.
Instructions for Drivers
Preparation Before Arrival
Preparation is key to a successful container pickup. Before the driver sets off, they should ensure that they have all the necessary documents and permits. These documents include confirmation of container reservation, vehicle and driver identification details, and any additional permits that may be required by the specific warehouse. It is also important to check the vehicle’s condition before the trip. The driver should ensure that all systems are functioning properly to avoid any technical problems during the container pickup. This includes checking the brakes, tires, lights, and other critical vehicle components.
The container can only be loaded onto a container trailer equipped with twist lock locks. If you wish to pick up a container with another type of trailer (e.g., tarpaulin, flatbed without twist lock locks, etc.), we do not guarantee that the container will be loaded at the depot!
Arrival at the Warehouse Depot
Upon arriving at the warehouse depot, the driver should follow the signage and instructions from the depot staff. It is important to adhere to all safety regulations, including speed limits and the use of protective equipment if required. The driver should navigate their vehicle to the appropriate terminal or location where the container is prepared for pickup. The driver must have registered for container pickup at the specific depot in advance, and once they are in front of the warehouse depot, they must press “start journey.” Without this, the container cannot be picked up. Alternatively, they should report their presence at the entrance gate or administrative office.
We cannot influence the waiting time for the driver to enter the depot. This depends on the current situation at the specific depot!
Document Check and Container Identification
Upon arriving at the pickup location, the depot staff will verify the QR code (which is generated in the app according to the instructions above). This includes verifying the container reservation, vehicle, and driver identification. This step is crucial to ensure that the container is issued to the correct person and that all requirements are met. Once these details are verified, the depot staff will identify the specific container to be picked up. It is important that the container intended for pickup is clearly identified to avoid any mistakes or discrepancies.
Verification of the Condition of the Container Being Picked Up
Before loading the container onto the vehicle, the driver should perform a visual inspection of the container. This inspection includes checking the container’s condition to ensure it is not damaged and verifying that it contains the correct type and quality of container. In case of any discrepancies or damage, the driver should immediately inform the depot staff and possibly refuse to accept the container. In such a case, photo documentation is required, clearly showing the damage that does not match the ordered quality. Detail of damage + photo of the container including container number with damage and from a distance, so it is clearly identifiable as a specific container (a photo of the damage detail without the container number or a general photo is not sufficient).
Always consider the basic rules of container quality. For example, if picking up a container of IICL6 quality after one trip, it should not be, for instance, punctured. For Cargo Worthy quality containers, there should also be no holes, though they may have minor or major signs of wear, dents, or rust. Check in advance the quality of the container you are picking up.
Loading the Container
The container is then loaded onto the vehicle. This process can be done using various equipment, including cranes, forklifts, or special loading systems. The driver should oversee the entire loading process to ensure the container is correctly and securely placed on the vehicle. After loading the container, it is crucial to check that the container is securely fastened. This includes using all necessary securing elements and ensuring that the container cannot slip or shift during transport.
Final Check and Departure
Before departure, the driver should perform a final check of all documents and ensure they have all the necessary paperwork for transporting the container. It is also important to check that all safety features are in place and that the vehicle is ready for departure. After completing all checks, the driver may leave the warehouse depot and proceed on their journey with the container.
