OPEN TOP CONTAINER
“Open top container” is often used for the transport of bulky or heavy loads that cannot be easily loaded or unloaded in standard ways (i.e. through doors). It has an open top, which allows easier loading and unloading of cargo that is too bulky or heavy to fit in a regular container. You can also often find it under the term “tarpaulin roof”. Some open top containers have an upper tarpaulin for covering, which protects the cargo from the weather.
An open top container is a special type that is equipped with an open top to allow easy loading and unloading of cargo.
It is made of steel panels that are firmly connected to provide a strong and durable structure even for really heavy loads. To ensure maximum stability and safety of the cargo, the edges of the open top container are reinforced. This ensures that the load does not slide out or slip during handling or transport.
What is transported in it?
Building materials – long pieces of wood, pipes, reinforced concrete structures
Heavy industrial equipment – for example, machines, generators, instruments. And other industrial equipment that are too large or heavy for standard containers
Cargo that is difficult to load – trees and plants, stone blocks, statues, etc.
Unusual large objects – such as ships, marine engines, wind turbines, works of art
CANVAS ROOF
The most distinctive feature is the open top. Unlike regular containers that have fixed ceilings, an open top container has a roof covered with a tarpaulin. That can be easily removed or rolled away.
Those containers are often equipped with special handles or eyelets on the edges. That allow the load to be secured using straps, chains or other securing devices.
The size of open top containers varies, depending on the specific type and manufacturer. These containers are available in different capacities such as 20-feet and 40-feet containers.
Shipping containers offer a wide range of sizes and designs. You can see their detailed overview in the section on shipping containers.
